Lago di Garda - Alpine beauty and Mediterranean flair

Lake Garda, also known locally as "Benaco", is the largest lake in Italy (51.6 km in length and 17.2 km in width) and is one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe.

The area around Lake Garda has a sub-Mediterranean climate, which is why the region looks like a gigantic garden with Mediterranean flora such as olives, palms, cypress, grapes and citrus.

And still the various shores of Lago di Garda are different in their appearance, mentality as well as vegetation:

The mild and peaceful South and Southwest have many cultural points of interest such as churches, antique buildings and museums. Latin flair and Italian spirit can be felt in the narrow streets and alleys of Bardolino, Peschiera or Sirmione - witness it up close at the beloved markets or in the many pizzerias and gelaterias. On the southern shore are many amusement parks, such as Gardaland or Canevaworld.

Travelling north along the eastern shore - the Riviera degli Olivi (The Olive Coast) -  holiday guests are greeted by the Monte Baldo Range, with mountains over 2000m! The "athletic" northern coast of Lago di Garda is a favourite of vacationers looking for adventure: In addition to the surfing and water sports mecca of Torbole, the Monte Baldo is an Eldorado for hikers, mountain bikers and paragliders. Around the small village of Arco, about 5km inland from Riva del Garda, there are many rock climbing cliffs, which draw many hobby climbers and famous climbers in Summer.
